Easter travel restrictions 2021

Some states and territories have travel restrictions in place over the Easter holiday period for agricultural, oversize/overmass and special purpose heavy vehicles.

The information below outlines the most common Easter restrictions, however this list is not exhaustive and we recommend operators check their permits and relevant notices to confirm what restrictions are applicable and check with the relevant state and territory road transport authorities.

Please be aware that there may also be additional permit and border forms required if travelling to or from a COVID "hotspot".

New South Wales

State-wide oversize travel curfews are imposed each year during various public holiday periods across the state for Class 1 oversize heavy vehicles:

Details of the travel requirements during the 2021 Easter holiday period are outlined below:

Agricultural vehicles that are wider than 2.5m and/or longer than 22m are not allowed to travel in Zone 1 from 8.30am on Friday 2 April 2021 to midnight on Monday 5 April 2021.

Travel in all other Zones is permitted only if they are accompanied by at least one pilot.

Queensland

Easter period travel restrictions apply for the following notices as per sections 9-11 of the Queensland Access Conditions Guide:

  • Multi-State Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicles Dimension Exemption Notice 2019
  • Queensland Class 3 Heavy Vehicle (Indivisible Item) Dimension Exemption Notice 2019
  • Queensland Class 1 Special Purpose Combination Mass Dimension Exemption Notice 2019
  • Multi-State Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicles Mass Exemption Notice 2016.

Western Australia

Curfew restrictions for operators of Oversize Restricted Access Vehicles (RAVs) apply during the Easter period. Operators must refer to the permit operating conditions that are relevant to the particular vehicle that they wish to operate for full details on the curfews that apply to them.
