The NHVR has established the National Harmonisation Program to improve heavy vehicle regulation consistency. The key objectives of this program are to minimise the compliance burden on the heavy vehicle transport industry, reducing duplication and inconsistencies across state and territory borders. National Harmonisation Program Info Sheet (PDF, 199 KB)
The initial work program includes the development of the following four priority national notices and associated networks. The NHVR has released issues papers for each of the four priority notices currently in development. These papers have been released to state and territory road transport authorities, local government associations and key industry associations for comment. These documents identify key issues to be addressed in the development of the new nationally harmonised notices. The NHVR addresses these issues by proposing solutions to eliminate inconsistent access conditions currently experienced by transport operators.
