The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator has thanked outgoing Infrastructure and Transport Minister Darren Chester for his support and efforts in delivering heavy vehicle reform over the past two years
NHVR Chair Bruce Baird said Mr Chester’s contribution to the heavy vehicle industry helped to deliver significant progress for Australia’s heavy vehicle and freight industry.
“Minister Chester and his team have shown strong leadership through the Transport and Infrastructure Council in delivering national reform for Chain of Responsibility laws, a range of Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative projects and bringing government and industry together on major issues,” Mr Baird said.
“I’ve welcomed his personal input on many issues when working with either his Department or the Transport and Infrastructure Council and wish him all the best.
“I look forward to working with incoming Minister Barnaby Joyce to continue to deliver our national reform agenda for the heavy vehicle industry."
Mr Baird said the NHVR would continue to work closely with the Federal Government to build a uniform national registration scheme, make the freight and supply chain more efficient and grow the national heavy vehicle camera network.
