A methodology for appointed suppliers to undertake various forms of assessment that will help inform local government road managers of the capability of their assets.
National Automated Access System (NAAS)
The NHVR is committed to the development of the NAAS and is an active participant in the NAAS advisory group and oversight committee.
The NAAS provides a smarter and more consistent way to manage heavy vehicle access across Australia by providing industry access in real time under notice rather than through individual permits. This approach will reduce the administrative burden on road managers and bring national alignment to how access decisions are made.
The NHVR recognises that road managers and authorities have differing asset assessment requirements and are at various stages in their adoption of technology solutions to assist with automated assessments.
This means these guidelines will be periodically reviewed and updated to align with national practice and ensure that the asset data generated by asset assessments is in a format suitable for use by a range of systems.
