Updated procedure
The updated National Roller Brake Testing (RBT) procedure is now available, ensuring consistent and accurate brake testing for heavy vehicles. The revisions include a refreshed template, improved appearance and clarified information, enhancing usability without altering the core content of the procedure.
Following a two-stage rollout, all roller brake testers used for compliance testing are now required to meet updated standards as of 1 August 2024. This revision enhances testing procedures in line with the National Heavy Vehicle Inspection Manual (NHVIM).

Additional guidance
Please note that the RBT procedure is primarily for compliance checks and for registration purposes. For maintenance programs, it is essential to follow the procedures set out by your vehicle manufacturer. Additionally, make sure to utilise the full capability of your RBT unit for wider testing capability.
