‘WHAT’S YOUR 20?’ NHVR hits the road with new Podcast for Aussie truckies

11-11-2025

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) is revving up a new way to support and connect with Australia’s heavy vehicle industry, with a brand-new podcast, What’s Your 20?

Launching today with two full episodes and hosted by seasoned industry veterans Rob and Sarah, What’s Your 20? promises to entertain, educate, and inspire heavy vehicle drivers and operators by tackling issues that matter most to them.

Each week Rob and Sarah bring their unique perspectives to the microphone, sharing road stories, behind-the-scenes chats with truckies, discussing regulatory updates, practical tips and interviewing key industry figures.

Episode 1 sees Rob and Sarah sit down with NHVR CEO Nicole Rosie, in a candid conversation about her vision for the regulator, boosting safety outcomes and the future of trucking.

NHVR’s Executive Director of Corporate Affairs Michelle Tayler said the launch of the podcast reflected the NHVR’s commitment to making real and meaningful connections with the heavy vehicle industry.

“We’re thrilled to be sharing What’s Your 20? with the industry. We understand drivers are busy, and podcasts are the perfect way for them to stay informed and entertained while on the job,” she said.

“At the NHVR, we’re committed to supporting Australia’s drivers in meaningful and accessible ways.

“What’s Your 20? is a new way for us to reach the people who keep our industry moving - delivering current insights, real stories, and valuable advice that makes a difference on and off the road.

“Truck driving is a unique profession, and we wanted to create something that reflects the voice of the industry.”

Both Rob and Sarah have extensive experience in the transport sector. Rob boasts over 30 years of experience in the industry, including driving refrigerated vehicles, bulk haulage with tankers and tippers, and general linehaul freight operations.

Sarah started her career at just 17, driving body trucks, and by 23 was behind the wheel of triple road trains. She has also worked as a depot manager, compliance and driver trainer, and now applies her expertise at the NHVR.

Their combined wealth of experience delivers straight-talking conversations grounded in real industry know-how.

“Every driver’s got a story, and what we’ve hoped to create with What’s Your 20? is something real, where we can talk about what’s actually happening out there on the road, and have a laugh too,” Rob said.

“After 30 years on the road, I know that sometimes the best advice comes from the driver parked next to you. That’s what this podcast is about - sharing that knowledge and staying safe.”

“Driving trucks isn’t just a job, it’s a whole way of life. We wanted What’s Your 20? to feel like those real road chats - sharing tips, swapping stories, and a bit of banter along the way,” Sarah said.

“The industry’s moving fast, but at its heart, it’s still about the people who love their trucks and take real pride in keeping the wheels turning, the nation moving, and getting the job done right.”
