NHVR approves the 10th EWD provider Drivalink

Approved Electronic Work Diaries (EWD) reached a milestone on 17 of May when Drivalink became the 10th provider to have their fatigue module approved.

NHVR’s Principal Fatigue Specialist Mark Williams said, “Drivalink provides another choice for drivers and operators when it comes to selecting a device and service with an approved EWD.”

“Uptake of EWD’s has been steadily increasing as drivers and operators find benefits in both their ease of use and savings in time compared to traditional paper-based Written Work Diaries (WWD).”

“A major benefit provided by EWD’s is it allows a driver only to record the work time they have actually worked and every minute of rest they have taken throughout the day. This means that for a driver on EWD, it more accurately reflects their day.”

“With an EWD, drivers are also alerted to potential breach events before they exceed their work and rest limits, significantly reducing the chance of breaching a ruleset. This should result in drivers being more confident in the accuracy of their records.”

“The traditional hassle of providing the daily work records (yellow copies in a WWD) within 21 days to the record keeper is also done automatically on a daily basis with the confirmed record being uploaded to a server when connected to a network and retained for three years.”

“We certainly encourage both drivers and operators to provide feedback on their experiences with both approved EWD’s and WWD’s further to improve both the update and ease of use."
