The NHVR is committed to upholding the principles of the Public Interest Disclosure Acts (PID Acts) and giving appropriate consideration to the interests of people who report wrongdoing affecting the NHVR, and protecting these people from reprisal.
The PID Acts that apply to the NHVR are the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2010 (Qld), the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1994 (NSW), the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2018 (SA), and the Protected Disclosure Act 2012 (Vic).
If a public interest disclosure is made to the NHVR, subject to the requirements of the applicable PID Act, the relevant protections will attach to protect a disclosing individual from reprisals, exposure of identity, and civil, criminal or administrative liability for making the disclosure. The NHVR will, as far as reasonably possible, treat disclosures from jurisdictions other than Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia, and Victoria as if the disclosures were made under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2010 (Qld).
You can make a public interest disclosure by:
- emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org
- writing to: Legal Services, Public Interest Disclosure, National Heavy Vehicle Regulator at PO Box 492, Fortitude Valley, QLD 4006 (please mark the envelope Private and Confidential)
- calling: (07) 3309 8839 between 8am and 5pm AEST, Monday to Friday
You can also make a public interest disclosure to an independent complaint agency, e.g. the Office of the Ombudsman or anti-corruption body in your jurisdiction (such as the Queensland Crime and Corruption Commission).
