Earlier this year, the NHVR released Vehicle Standards Bulletin 6 (VSB6) Version 3.2, which saw the implementation of the J4 Tipper Body Design Code.
In August 2023, following feedback from industry that more time was needed to understand the requirements of the new code and adjust designs, the NHVR extended the transitional period that provided modifiers with an option to use either the new J4 Code or the former J1 Code until 1 February 2024.
During this time, the NHVR has been working with key industry associations and their members to ensure a smooth transition process and to make minor improvements to the new code.
While good progress has been made, the NHVR has decided that more time is required to finalise this work with industry. As such, the NHVR is providing a further extension of the transitional arrangements until 1 July 2024.
For those who applied for the previous J4 extension, there is no need to reapply, as this further extension will automatically apply. Those wishing to apply for the first time can email vehiclestandards@nhvr.gov.au with your request, including your name, business name and estimated number of tipper body certifications over this period.
