Heavy Vehicle Accreditation scheme

The Heavy Vehicle Accreditation (HVA) scheme is a national voluntary accreditation framework designed to recognise heavy vehicle operators who demonstrate strong safety management capability.

Administered by the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), the HVA scheme provides a consistent approach to accreditation and assurance for the heavy vehicle industry.

The HVA scheme is designed to be performance-based and scalable. It promotes:

  • stronger safety outcomes across the heavy vehicle industry
  • consistent national standards and assurance
  • improved operational confidence for industry and regulators
  • reduced administrative burden through streamlined assurance processes.

The NHVR has a dedicated accreditation team that is available to help with HVA scheme questions and applications.
