Removing vehicles from a PBS Vehicle Approval guide

I have sold a vehicle and I want to remove it from my PBS Vehicle Approval (VA). What is the process?
- Complete the PBS Vehicle Removal Application form (PDF, 189KB) and send via email to pbs@nhvr.gov.au requesting to remove vehicles from your VA. The request must include the full PBS Vehicle Approval Reference number and the email subject line must state ‘Vehicle Removal Request’.
- PBS Vehicle Approval Reference number example: PBS – V140809 – VA7887 – ABC Manufacturer / XYZ Transport – v1A
- If you have a copy of the VA, please attach it to the email submission.
- A new version of the same VA number will be issued.
Important Information
Please fill out all fields in the Vehicle Removal Application form. The removal request will not be approved unless the form is complete.
All vehicles being removed must be listed on the same VA. Individual vehicles listed across multiple Vehicle Approvals will require separate applications.
Note: If you have sold all vehicles on your VA or if removing sold vehicles results in no full combination on your VA, then you will not be issued with a new VA.
I have new vehicles to replace the ones I have sold. What should I do next?
Please request the unwanted vehicles to be removed as explained above. You will need to complete a separate application to add new vehicles to your VA.

What happens after I submit my Vehicle Removal Request?
After we receive your ‘Vehicle Removal Request’ we will send you a confirmation receipt within one to two business days.
If you don't receive a confirmation receipt within two business days, please send a follow-up email to pbs@nhvr.gov.au.
Note: The receipt is issued to the person who submitted the request. If a VA application was lodged by a PBS Certifier, please follow up with them.
What happens after I receive my updated VA?
Any existing access permits relating to the nominated VA will still be valid. No change to the associated access permit is required.
The VA is not an authorisation to access the road network. The PBS combinations must comply with the relevant Notice or may require an access permit. To apply for an access permit, please see Performance Based Standards vehicle access permit.
