National notices

National notices have been made under the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and apply in multiple states and territories.

A notice is an authorisation that allows a restricted access vehicle to travel on the road network. It also has the power to exempt vehicles from requirements (e.g. mass and dimension) under the HVNL and its regulations.

Variations to authorised routes will be made in the manner set out in the relevant notice (for example, through amendments to published maps, or the addition of routes to the notices themselves). All national notices are issued for a maximum of 5 years.

Acronyms used in table: MDL – Mass, dimension and loading; VS – Vehicle standards.
