NHVR AND QPS: Drive safely with trucks towing oversize loads this Queensland Road Safety Week

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and Queensland Police Service (QPS) have launched the Sharing our Roads with Oversize Loads campaign, with a series of videos to show road users how to stay safe when driving near trucks towing oversize loads this Queensland Road Safety Week.

Police escort more than six thousand heavy vehicles with an oversize or overmass load, such as mining or construction equipment, in Queensland each year.

Victorian pre-approved maps to support national access automation

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has welcomed the Victorian Government’s release of eight new pre-approved crane maps as an important step towards delivering national automated heavy vehicle access outcomes.

NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto said that the NHVR’s National Spatial Platform will provide a single national dynamic map of state and local roads, providing transparency of all allowable access arrangements.

Healthy Heads calls on industry to drive conversations and ask, “R U OK?”

R U OK? and Healthy Heads in Truck & Sheds Foundation (HHTS) have teamed up to ensure people in the road transport, warehousing and logistics industries know when and how to meaningfully connect and genuinely ask, “are you OK?”

Today, 17 May the Foundation launches ‘R U OK? in Trucks & Sheds’, a day of action to start driving conversations for ongoing cultural change and to shine a light on the need to have these conversations, every day of the year.

Essential food to keep rolling west

The NHVR has released a temporary notice to support the movement of essential food items from SA to WA during the unprecedented flooding events that have impacted large parts of central Australia.

NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto said the National Class 3 Supplementary Access (Western Australia Assistance) Exemption Notice 2022 (No.1) will provide temporary access for Class 3 vehicles that are road trains up to 53.5 metres in length and the equivalent of Higher Mass Limits.
